There are thousands of stray dogs all over the world, and it seems the number just gets higher by the minute. It seems that the number of people who abandon their dog rises, and some dogs that grew up in the streets get pregnant and remained aloof to the rescuers.
But of course, not all dogs end up in an unfortunate situation as there are tireless volunteers who rescue stray animals. Stray dog’s count may rise, but there are also a great number of rescue groups who use their own resources to cover their good willed mission, like in India.
In India, where days can be hot and nights colder, some stray animals do get a hard time adjusting in the weather, just like Asha.
Asha, a Hindi word for “Hope,” was found by the volunteers from Animal Aid Unlimited, inside a barrel. They believe the poor dog had been stuck inside a barrel for a couple of days now, and with nothing to eat or drink. They remembered seeing Asha being scared and not moving at all; as if she had already given up.
It took them a couple of hours hard work to free Asha from the barrel, and with the help of some oil, they were able to completely remove the tar from her body. However, freeing her from the barrel of tar is just the beginning of other underlying problems.
Being stuck in the tar took a toll on Asha’s health, and needs medical intervention. Her skin got badly burned from being exposed for a long period and needed to be addressed right away.
The team worked tirelessly to restore Asha in good health, it might have been a long journey for everyone, but their hard work definitely paid off.
